Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome
The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a group of connective tissue disorders.
The conditions are caused by genetic changes that affect connective tissue. Connective tissue is found throughout the body including our muscles, joints, internal organs and skin.
Each type of EDS has its own set of features with distinct diagnostic criteria. Features can include joint hypermobility, skin hyperextensibility, tissue fragility, bowel and bladder issues, dizzyness and reduced balance.
